Hello,
I work for a company called Lateral Visions and we have developed a platform for viewing and interacting with the Web in 3D.
Although 3D has been on the Web in various forms before, such as product viewers, virtual worlds etc our vision is more fundamental than those focusing on the building blocks that allowed the web to become what it is today.
Our platform is by no mean an attempt to replace the traditional 2D Web, but a means to enhance, extend and integrate with it.
Well thats probably enough talk, better that you see what I mean.
Yesterday we launched a 3D website for the Linnean Society of London. You can view it here:
The Linnean Society of London: a forum for natural history
To view the site you do need to install a small plugin (around 100k) and currently it is only supported on windows (but should work with any browser).
It is still relatively early days for the platform, but I thought it would be useful to get the CG Artist's views.
Hope you enjoy viewing the Linnean Society :)
