3Dfilter - 3D Model and Texture Search

3Dfilter.com is a new search engine which aims to make it simple to find 3d models and textures from the best warehouses. The site searches all of the popular model warehouses and stock photography websites and then displays the results with thumbnails all on one page which makes finding the perfect asset quick and easy.

You can also filter and sort the results in realtime by price, file format, author, title and other attributes as well as choosing to search only your favorite sources by clicking 'options'.

The developer of 3Dfilter also runs cadyou.com a moderated directory of free 3d models, textures and cad files under Creative Commons licenses all searchable through 3dfilter.

Pixar at SIGGRAPH '09

For over 20 years now, Pixar has been attending the SIGGRAPH conference. 2009 is no different and once again they’re one of the main events!

The world famous computer graphics exhibition will be held in New Orleans, Louisiana this year at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from August 3rd to August 7th. If you’re planning to attend, remember not to bring your portfolio to the Pixar booth because they won’t be taking it there. You’ll also want to pick up one of Pixar’s famous walking teapots!

Representing the studio this year will be animator/director Peter Sohn and 3D Supervisor Bob Whitehill. Sohn will have a talk about his directorial debut and how he got his vision on film. This presentation is followed by a screening of Partly Cloudy. Learn more about the August 4th event here. As one of the main presenters, Whitehill will be talking about how Pixar implements stereoscopic 3D into their movies without making it feel gimmicky.
