With Jamie King as Head, and Gary Foreman as CTO, the New York City-based company has been created to launch games online, through mobile devices like iPhone before letting them loose on the consoles PS3, XBox 360 and DS, as reported in Variety this week.
The web is considered a very good test market for those games eventually to land in the high-end console market. But the strategy is also a way to keep one step ahead of digital piracy which is rampant in the industry.
Another couple of big names getting on board the venture is former-NBC and Warners executive Paul Coyne and Nicholas Perrett, formerly from Image Metrics. Perrett is CEO of the new company.
Within the new bunch of executives jumping into this talented mix, comes the experience of producing games like 'Grand Theft Auto', 'Midnight Club', 'Bully' and ' Max Payne'. There is extensive experience in the music industries, TV, film, game and online.
There are two titles being developed right now at 4mm. 'As an indie outfit, 4mm isn't looking to partner up with a single publisher to distribute its titles; instead, it's seeking to set up properties at various companies. It may also distribute games on its own, especially on mobile or other digital properties', a company spokesman said.
